Welder Jobs in Auckland. Are you a skilled welder with a passion for quality craftsmanship and sustainable solutions? Waste Management NZ is looking for a reliable and experienced Welder to join our Christchurch team. Moreover In this hands-on role, you’ll support the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of over 100 trucks, contributing directly to the efficiency and sustainability of New Zealand’s leading waste and resource recovery provider.

Our Christchurch branch plays a key role in servicing municipal, commercial, and landfill operations in the Canterbury region.
Key Responsibilities
As a Welder in our Christchurch branch, your responsibilities will include:
Moreover Performing MIG and TIG welding on truck frames, bodies, and components
Diagnosing and repairing cracks, wear, and structural damage to heavy vehicle components
Fabricating custom parts, reinforcements, and panels as required
Supporting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance across the fleet
Moreover Keeping detailed records of maintenance and fabrication work
Moreover Managing tasks through the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards at all times
Moreover Conducting daily checks on workshop tools and reporting faults
Coordinating material and part requisitions with supervisors
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
NZ Certificate in Welding (Level 4) or equivalent
Proven experience in MIG and TIG welding (automotive or heavy transport preferred)
Moreover Strong fabrication skills and mechanical aptitude
Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Good communication and time-management skills
Moreover A proactive, safety-first approach to work
Class 4 NZ Driver’s Licence (preferred) or willingness to obtain it
Skills and Attributes
High attention to detail and commitment to workmanship
Moreover Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physically fit and capable of handling tools and equipment in a workshop setting
Adaptable to rotating shifts and varied workload
Moreover Strong organisational and documentation skills
Benefits
✅ $40/hour competitive hourly wage
✅ Permanent, full-time role
✅ 45-hour work week – rostered Monday to Saturday
✅ Shifts include: 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM and 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM (occasionally)
