Fleet Fix Ltd is a well-established vehicle maintenance and repair company with over 30 years of experience in the heavy transport industry. Based in Penrose, we specialise in the repair and servicing of trucks, trailers, and commercial vehicles—including chassis work, fiberglass repairs, mechanical servicing, and COF/WOF compliance. Key Responsibilities
As a Fabricator/Welder, you will play a vital role in custom vehicle modification, repairs, and general fabrication tasks. Your duties will include:
Moreover Reading and interpreting technical plans and engineering drawings.
Measuring, cutting, assembling, and welding metal components.
Performing MIG welding (TIG and ARC experience a plus).
Fabricating and fitting parts for trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles.
Moreover Carrying out workshop repairs and general maintenance tasks.
Ensuring all fabrication work meets Fleet Fix’s safety and quality standards.
Working collaboratively with workshop technicians and management to meet deadlines.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Moreover Proven experience in metal fabrication and welding.
Proficiency in MIG welding (TIG and ARC experience is advantageous).
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Moreover Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
A reliable, proactive work ethic and problem-solving ability.
A full NZ driver’s license (preferred).
Legal right to work in New Zealand.
Skills and Attributes
Moreover Trade qualification or equivalent hands-on experience in fabrication/welding.
Knowledge of vehicle structures, especially trucks and trailers.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Moreover Strong time management and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
